This layer of protection has been given a HH rating of 10,000 mm. A HH refers to a materials Hydrostatic Head, this is effectively a measure of how much water a material can withstand before it begins to let water through due to the weight and pressure. A fabric’s Hydrostatic Head (HH) is a measure of how much water it can resist before it starts to allow water through.The type of fabric used, and what it has been treated with, will both affect it’s HH value. It’s usually written in millimetres. So in this instance, a rating of 10,000 means that this material can withstand a column of water up to 10,000 mm (or 1000 cm, or 10 metres) high pressing down on it before it would start to let in water. An extremely unlikely scenario however it is nice to know that you are well protected!
